Mentors work with their students right up until they get their first job
Recently thOSE STUDENTS WHO STARTED SCHOOL AT THE THORN TREE KINDERGARTENS IN 2002 HAVE BEGUN TO GRADUATE FROM TRADE SCHOOL AND COLLEGE.
The students who have graduated from our scholarship program were the first in their families to ever go to school. There are now 32 graduates with another hundred and thirty right behind them.
The graduates from our scholarship program have jobs and send part of their wages home.
They have a great sense of duty and responsibility and they are very proud to be able to help support their families. Although some of our students have jobs outside of the Samburu area, the Samburu way of life is very compelling and they keep in touch with their families and each other. They return home whenever they can. Many are helping their younger siblings through high school.

Associate of BOMA, a micro-finance organization helping women to start small businesses
A local high school English teacher
Mechanic at Kenya's largest grain farm
Ranger at the Rhino Sanctuary in Sera
